A shootout involving several attackers left at least four dead and dozens injured in the city of Birmingham, Alabama, police said Saturday.
“We believe multiple shooters fired multiple shots at a group of people” in the Five Points South district shortly after 11:00 p.m. Saturday, police officer Truman Fitzgerald told local media.
Police found two adult men and a woman on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. All three were pronounced dead. A fourth victim died at a hospital, the officer said.
In addition, dozens of people were injured and at least four suffered serious injuries.

No one has been arrested so far. Firefighters were called to the scene on Saturday evening and cordoned off the area, police said.
So far this year, there have been 403 mass shootings in the United States, defined as those involving at least four victims, dead or wounded, according to the NGO Gun Violence Archive.
In total, 12,416 people have died in 2024 in violent acts involving firearms, according to GVA.
