TRIBUNMATARAMAN.COM – The Tulungagung Health Office (Dinkes) noted that 82 residents had a fever chikungunya during early 2023.
They are spread over 3 villages in the Ngunut District, and 1 village in the Kauman District.
However, it is possible that the number of patients and affected villages will increase.

“There is a report from another village in Kauman District. It is still in the process of an epidemiological survey,” explained the Head of Disease Prevention and Management of the Tulungagung Health Office, Didik Eka.
The first village that was attacked by chikunnya was Gilang Village, Ngunut District with 35 sufferers.
Then followed by Pulosari Village, Ngunut District with 20 sufferers and Jatimulyo Village, Kauman District with 11 sufferers.
Finally, in Ngunut Village/District there were 16 sufferers.
“For Gilang and Pulosari villages, the cases have stopped after eradicating mosquito nests and fogging,” continued Didik.
Fever chikungunya caused by a virus transmitted by the vectors of Aides aegypti and Aides albopictus mosquitoes.
Sufferers will feel fever and pain in all joints, even temporary paralysis.
But fortunately, the chikunnya virus only has one strain and doesn’t cause death.
“Unlike dengue hemorrhagic fever, for example, there are 4 strains. Fever chikungunya can heal by itself,” Didik said.
To prevent spread chikungunyaDidik hopes that the community will actively eradicate mosquito nests.
Because until now the larva-free number (ABJ) Tulungagung Regency still 91.8 percent of the minimum stipulation of 95 percent.
