Throne & Liberty is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious MMORPGs of all time, and in recent interviews with NCsoft developers and Amazon Games publisher, we learned more about how changing the shape of characters and the weather in the game can also change the way players play. Things that can be done traditionally in the genre.
From left to right, we chat with design director Moonseop Lee, lead producer Jongok Ahn, and Amazon Games franchise lead Merv Lee Kwai:
“For example, when people play this game on one field, it can be the same field, but we want players to have various experiences even in one field”, the lead producer explained the reason behind the weather changes. “Maybe at night, people turn into werewolves, or when it rains, the vegetation, trees, plants, they all change. So yeah, that sort of thing, also depending on the weather or the day/night cycle, the rewards might be different”
“For example, one of the things that morphing can do is travel, world traversing,” the design director later added on the morphing feature. “So when you go on land, in the air, in the sea, you turn into various creatures that serve as vehicles for your world. Besides that, we have guardians. It’s a very special kind of creature, and you can turn into a very special kind of creature , like the ultimate power of your game.
But it had a long cool time and it was introduced into the game. People can also transform into puppets. Then the golem can collapse, tearing down the walls. So that’s your special feature in battle in war.”
