Workers who witnessed the gruesome find in the garbage bags are shocked.

“There were three workers in the area of the belt where the sorting took place. One of them took the black bag and opened it. That he saw the severed head first and suffered a shock. Then the other two workers saw the gruesome find and were shocked. The police were immediately informed and arrived at the Unit while the employees a little while later, at our prompting, they returned to their home to calm down. We are by their side and will support them in whatever they need, while we told them to stay away from work for as long as necessary in order to come back,” he said in cretapost the general director of DEDISA, Kostas Paterakis.

For his part, the president of DEDISA, Michalis Tsoupakis, pointed out that “from time to time we find various things in the waste, but never anything like this. It is one tragic event and the workers are in a state of shock. We will make sure they have psychological support.”

From the first moment that the severed head was discovered, the police started searching for her garbage truck route in order to establish from which bins the specific garbage was collected.

“These findings were from the Rethymno’s recycling routes. The vehicle that transported them has been located. This waste does not come with waste trucks to DEDISA but with press containers from the municipality of Rethymno and that’s why we cannot know the route”, underlined Mr. Tsoupakis.

The forgotten receipts

The murderer (perhaps murderers) did not notice that inside the nylon bags he used to conceal the human parts in order to dispose of them in different garbage cans, there were forgotten receipts from transactions in cafeterias and mini-markets.

In accordance with Cretalive the investigations seem to be focused on Rethymno and more specifically the authorities are looking for the tip of the thread with a focus on a cafeteria and a mini-market in an area east of Rethymno, very close to the city.

Already the police have searched for it footage from security cameras both the specific businesses and others in the area in order to identify “traces” that will lead them to the solution of the mystery.

However, the way in which the perpetrator or perpetrators tried to “disappear” the corpse, cutting it into several pieces, suggests a deeper motivation, report the same information.

What the medical examiner Grigoris Leon said about the case

“The identification of a person can be done simply and only with the head that was originally found. The medical examiner has already assessed the age, sex, possibly seen some injuries, if ante-mortem or post-mortem because that will play a role later. What matters in a dismemberment is whether the dismemberment was done alive or if a corpse was first killed and then dismembered. What a medical examiner has to find is the cause of death, which if it is a violent death we have to find in what way. Of course, with secondary evidence, genetic and laboratory tests, we can even get to the perpetrator,” said Mr. Leon, among other things, speaking to Mega.
