“Three young people taken to hospital after serious car accident in Vegårshei, Agder”

A car with three young people in it has driven off the road. All have been taken to hospital.

One person is taken to hospital by air ambulance. Two others are being treated at the scene, the police in Agder tweeted.

The accident happened at Heiveien along Hauglandsvann in Vegårshei.

– It appears to be a serious traffic accident, the police tweet.

The police in Agder report that the road is closed at the scene and will remain so for some time to come. It is unclear how long.

Operations leader Kurt Ulven tells NTB that it is a matter of life-threatening head injuries. The next of kin have been notified.

– The other two have been taken to hospital with serious injuries, says Ulven to NTB.

Flew to Oslo by air ambulance

– Those involved have been transported away from the scene. Two are taken to Arendal hospital by ambulance. A person is being flown by air ambulance from the scene of the accident to Oslo, the police write.

Crime scene technicians from the police and the National Road Administration’s accident team have been called to the scene. The road will probably not be opened until closer to midnight.

– Two witnesses have been questioned and as usual we take blood samples from the driver after such an accident, says operations manager John Repstad to NTB.
