A 3-year-old boy was shot Friday night outside a Brooklyn daycare center, an NYPD spokesman said.
The investigation is still in its early stages, but authorities said police rushed to the scene in Brownsville, where they picked up the boy and took him to Brookdale Hospital in their patrol car.
His condition was not immediately known, but police officials believe he was shot in the shoulder.
NYPD officials say they are searching for the man who opened fire outside the scene on Riverdale Avenue.
There were no additional details about a possible suspect.
