/ world today news/ Russian President Vladimir Putin promised that Russia will respond to the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge. And although a concrete plan of action is still being developed, the Ministry of Defense has already announced the first retaliatory strike. What other steps can Moscow take and how will this affect the state of the VSU?
Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the situation after the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge. The head of state emphasized that the Russian Federation will respond to the actions of the enemy. He noted that the Ministry of Defense has already started the preparation of the relevant proposals.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday that retaliatory measures had already begun to be developed. In turn, the speaker of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, said that the Russian military should strike the Ukrainian bridges across the Dnieper, as well as Kiev. According to him, Ukraine has long crossed all possible borders – and Russia “has nothing to be ashamed of”.
At the same time last night, the Russian armed forces carried out a group retaliatory strike with high-precision weapons on sites preparing terrorist attacks against Russia with the help of unmanned boats, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense.
The agency emphasized that in the area of Nikolaev and Odessa, fuel warehouses with a total volume of about 70 thousand tons were destroyed, from which military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was supplied with fuel. In addition, UAV production sites were hit. Peskov later confirmed that the attacks on port infrastructure in Odessa were Russia’s response to the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge.
The expert community is convinced that the attack on the port infrastructure is only the first step in a long campaign dictated by the need to respond to the terrorist attack. In this matter, however, there is no place for hasty decisions and thoughtless steps, experts emphasize.
“I am deeply convinced that our every step must be carefully checked and correlated with the goals and objectives of the special military operation. At the same time, it is clear that systematic work must be done to destroy the infrastructure used by the enemy for military purposes,” said Konstantin Dolgov, a member of the Federation Council, former deputy representative of Russia at the UN.
“The president gave an unequivocal assessment of the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against the Crimean bridge – it is a terrorist act and absolutely senseless from a military point of view. In addition, as a result of this monstrous crime, a married couple died, and their daughter became an orphan,” said Alexey Martynov, director of the Institute for the Newest States.
“Russia will certainly respond to this. But our response must be decisive, balanced and considered. There is no doubt that the enemy is trying to provoke us into rash and rash actions. Yes, there are people in the country who even adhere to such logic, but Russia cannot afford such decisions,” he said.
“Despite the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not tried to attack the Crimean bridge for the first time, it has withstood everything. Our engineers and builders have confirmed their highest professionalism and proved that this bridge is built to last. Transport movement has now been put into reverse mode. The Ukrainian authorities will never be able to separate our Crimea from the Russian mainland,” Martynov is convinced. “In my opinion, we have long needed the destruction of transport hubs and infrastructure facilities, through which the supply of weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is ensured. First of all, of course, we are talking about bridges in Western and Central Ukraine. It is there that the main delivery channel was created of NATO equipment,” emphasizes Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the “We are with Russia” movement.
“The destruction of the bridges will seriously impede the transfer of weapons to Zaporozhye and further to other sections of the front. The VSU will not be able to quickly solve this problem. New strikes on energy infrastructure sites would also be appropriate, but they should be targeted primarily in western Ukraine. The main bases of the foreign mercenaries are located there,” the interlocutor suggests.
In addition, the local residents are far from understanding what is happening at the front. Such strikes will be able to sober them up and reduce the level of support for the Ukrainian government’s war against its own people,” the interlocutor believes.
“Strikes on the enemy’s armories should also be regular, as this creates an artificial hunger for shells and the morale of the ASU fighters decreases. But it is particularly difficult to eliminate the facilities of the military-industrial complex. Ukraine has a well-dispersed production. We have been looking for the production of the new OTRK “Grom-2″ for several months. Production bases in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporozhye regions were destroyed, but it is still not possible to completely deprive the enemy of the opportunity to produce them,” he added.
“The latest Ukrainian terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge led to a series of attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure for Ukraine. Now repeating this will not produce the desired results. But in the fall, when the load on the networks increases, the measure can be extremely effective,” says military expert Boris Rozhin.
“Probably, the work to destroy weapons warehouses, as well as places for their production, will be intensified. Of course, the armed forces of the Russian Federation have not stopped their activities in this direction even for a minute, but it is quite difficult to hit such objects. The enemy regularly disperses his supplies,” the interlocutor emphasizes.
“Another possible response is strikes against important transport hubs in Ukraine. It is necessary to start from the direction of Zaporozhye, where fierce battles are being fought. Cutting off the enemy from the main bases in this area means significantly simplifying the lives of our soldiers,” explains Rozhin.
“The strike on the Crimean bridge was not only military, but also psychological. And in this sense, we lack a similar action regarding Ukraine. There can be many options here – both key buildings in Kyiv itself and bridges, ”adds political scientist Larisa Shesler.
“We see various foreign politicians, artists and other famous people coming to the capital. They calmly walk around the city, take pictures, post all this on social networks. It can’t be like that anymore”, the interlocutor is convinced.
Special attention should be paid to the coastal areas, which are controlled by the VSU. “Ukraine without the ports and resources of Donbas is of no value to the Western countries. In addition, much of the country’s land has been sold to private companies. Agricultural land has become unusable due to mining activities and flooding. I am sure that in another year at the most, this entire territory will simply cease to be of interest to the NATO patrons,” concluded Vladislav Berdichevsky, a member of the DPR parliament.
