Three Ubisoft peaks leave after several charges of harassment in the company

Following recent allegations of sexual and emotional harassment and general corporate culture, Ubisoft has now taken some steps. In total, three of the tops are out of the company, after agreeing with management to step down. That is what Ubisoft says for a long time public statement.

The most significant of these is Ubisoft’s creative leader Serge Hascoët, who has overseen all of the gaming projects in the company. Hascoët must have been in such a leading position that he could choose which projects would make the green light to be produced within the company, according to GameSpot.

Ubisoft’s chief executive, Yves Guillemot, will keep the reins now left by Hascoët until the company finds a permanent replacement.

The other two who leave Ubisoft behind are Yannis Mallat, who heads Ubisoft’s Canadian studio, and HR manager for the company Cécile Cornet. According to Ubisoft’s statement, these two must have given up because they think it is the best way to ensure that the company stands together.

– Today, Ubisoft announced several major staff changes, which are part of the extensive work the company is doing to improve and strengthen the culture in the workplace. These layoffs come after the company has begun a major review to meet the recent allegations of bad and indecent behavior and conduct, the statement says.

Further in the statement, Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemomt admits that the company has not succeeded in creating a safe and inclusive workplace and environment for its employees, and that they will now make major changes to the company to improve this.

Several lay off jobs

The fact that the three peaks are out comes in the wake of Ubisoft’s Vice President Maxime Béland recently quit his job after he and others in the company were suspended as a result of the internal investigations. Also Assassin’s Creed Valhalla director Ashraf Ismail resigned from work a few weeks ago to spend time with the family, after being charged with more personal breach of trust.

The news that the three tops are out of the company comes the same day that Ubisoft will have its big presentation, Ubisoft Forward. Here they will show what games they are working on, in the same style as the E3 presentations they have used in previous years.

Just hours before the presentation, Ubisoft posted a message on twitter that Sunday’s Ubisoft Forward presentation will not address the charges to any degree. The rationale should be that the presentation is pre-recorded.
