Three tourists arrested in Rincón for violating the curfew

Three tourists have been arrested today on the beach Sandy Beach, of Rincón, for violation of the curfew imposed by the government of Puerto Rico as a measure to stop the spread of the COVID-19.

The first was a 31-year-old man from New York, who – according to the Police in a press release – was detained on that coast at around 10:00 in the morning on Monday.

According to preliminary information, “the detainee is on vacation on the island, spending the night in the aforementioned town.”

“He was on the aforementioned beach practicing the sport of board, currently prohibited by Executive Order and when the agent José Loperena, assigned to that Police District, tried to interview him, he refused to give information and ran out of the place, being placed under arrest for the uniformed, “he added.

Later, the Police reported that at 11:00 in the morning they arrested two other men, 20 and 28 years old, who were surfing on that same beach and who refused to get out of the water when the authorities told them to do so. The authorities’ preliminary report maintains that the Aguadilla Maritime Unit of the United Rapid Action Forces (FURA) went into action and transported the men to the shore, where they were placed under arrest.

Like the first arrested, these two men are on vacation in Puerto Rico and are staying in the Puntas neighborhood of Rincón.

The trio was cited for a later date.

The executive order that went into effect today and will be in effect until May 25, did not include physical activities on the beaches such as those that are allowed to be practiced between 5:00 in the morning and 3:00 in the afternoon. .

“Outdoor physical activities will be limited to walking, jogging, cycling, and walking with children or pets,” states the executive order in the second section.

“However, any center or facility where these physical activities are practiced and / or promote the crowding of people, such as parks, athletic tracks, including beaches, spas, gymnasiums, among others, will remain closed to the public,” he adds.

With the previous three executive orders, the Police have arrested 731 people, while it has issued 1,799 complaints for violations of the curfew.
