Like every week, we present you our ‘Team of the Week’. Club Brugge and RSC Anderlecht have a leading role this week, although there are also players from other teams who were important. The battle is far from over, here are the eleven names that colored our weekend.
Goalkeeper
For the third week in a row, Warleson was decisive for Cercle Brugge and quite impressive. Yet we choose a different goalkeeper this week, because Kasper Schmeichel was also of great importance to his team. He contributed to the victory in the Brussels derby and thus gets his place in our team of the week.
Defense
In line with Schmeichel, RSC Anderlecht was an absolute top defensive player for the Purple & White. Killian Sardella stood very firmly at right back and also provided a lot of impulses offensively, including an assist.
On the left flank we can hardly go next to Bjorn Meijer, who also did well offensively (1 assist) and defensively. And Achraf Dari also showed himself strongly in both large rectangles. He scored a vital goal in Kortrijk in minute 94 and defended very strongly until then. Jan Vertonghen provided an important cross to make it 2-1 and continues to radiate grandeur.

Midfield
In midfield we place another player from Club Brugge with Raphael Onyedika. It seems to be undergoing a complete revival under Nicky Hayen. Just like last week, he was again very strong, with another important goal. He could also have been sent off, but was omnipresent.
Hans Vanaken was also very strong for Club Brugge and brought his team one step closer to the top of the rankings. Shuto Abe was vital at the bottom of the rankings with two goals.
Attack
Are you important as a substitute? That’s what Nikola Storm did for KV Mechelen. Although he did not score, with an assist on the 2-2 and an important cross on the 3-2, he was the man with the most impact for De Kakkers.
Mathieu Maertens was ahead of the man with two goals OH Leuven in a three-pointer against KAA Gent. Dolberg, Arokodare and Bernier also scored, but we still choose El Khannouss as the last attacker. He put a lot of pressure on Cercle Brugge’s defense with quick actions.
