Ryanair airline threatens to lose three thousand jobs if the staff does not agree to part of the salary, says CEO Michael O’Leary on Wednesday.
According to O’Leary, the highest-paid commanders should hand in 20 percent and cabin crew 5 percent. “If we can reach an agreement on this, we can prevent the worst job losses,” the CEO said in a statement BBC.
At Ryanair, office jobs are at risk, while pilots and cabin crew may also lose jobs. O’Leary’s announcement coincides with the news that Ryanair will operate more than a thousand European flights every day from Wednesday.
Although about 90 percent of the original flight schedule has been filled in again, Ryanair still flies less often. In the coming month, the price fighter expects to be at 40 percent of its normal capacity. The Irish company expects 4.5 million passengers for July.
