Reading time: approx. 4 minutes
The balance of the Oberliga Nord is always impressive. Only leader Hannover Scorpions could stay out of this as far as possible. Even the Tilburg team suffered some surprising bankruptcies and this matchday also had a few results that no one had on their ticket.
If the success of the Leipziger in Erfurt was already a surprise, the game-free Herford had certainly imagined the other two games in the outcome differently. The outsiders Krefeld and Rostock won and intensified the battle for tenth place drastically. And even the apparently beaten Hanover Indians still have a minimal chance, as they are only 0.19 points behind the fourth Erfurt.
Black Dragons Erfurt – Icefighters Leipzig 4:5 (0:1, 2:0, 2:3, 0:1) n.V.
That was a setback for Erfurt, but they still have every chance of getting their fourth place in the table. After all, they are still 0.03 points ahead of their direct rivals from Hamburg, six games behind. In the game against the Icefighters, which was completely even and was still relatively fair despite 13 time penalties, the guests prevailed because, in contrast to the black dragons, they had one more player who left his mark on the match. For Erfurt this was Arnoldas Bosas. The Lithuanian scored in the 32nd minute and 52nd minute to 2: 1 and 3: 1 and thus the game seemed to be going in the desired direction for Erfurt. Previously, one of the top players in Leipzig had taken the lead. Florian Eichelkraut (19th) made it 1-0 for the guests and made a total of three points, like Bosas. Robin Slanina was even one point better, although he does not appear in the scorers. He was involved in four of the five Icefighters goals. The non-giving up Leipzig met again in the 54th minute by Florian Eichelkraut and Hannes Albrecht equalized in the 56th minute. Highest drama in the final phase. 53 seconds before the end of the game, Viktor Beck scored the apparent winning goal for Erfurt. The people of Leipzig reacted coolly, left their goalkeeper in the box and scored anyway. Eichelkraut and Slanina served Hannes Albrecht and he overcame Erfurt’s keeper Konstantin Kessler 15 seconds before the end to make it 4: 4. Probably the Black Dragons were shocked, because already in the 62nd minute with his third goal of the season decided the game for Leipzig.
Saale Bulls Halle – Hammer Eisbären 6: 3 (3: 1, 1: 2, 2: 0)
A deserved success of the favorite, who, however, struggled with the fighting strength of the bottom of the table. The decisive factor for the win was that the player of the day was again the Finnish striker of the Bulls Valtteri Hotakainen, who scored four points. Another aspect was the power play, where the people of Halle used one of two possibilities (50 percent), while the polar bears sabotaged all five chances. And the Halle residents started like the fire brigade, quickly scored to make it 2-0. Sergei Stas (4th) and Davide Vinci (5th) were the scorers. Andreas Valdix (12th) kept the hammer hopes high, but Valtteri Hotakainen (18th) ensured the two-goal lead again before the first break. There were three goals in the second period and they came within just 91 seconds. First Tobias Schwab shortened (31st), then the second Bulls-Finn increased Tatu Vihavainen (31st) to 4: 2 and a few seconds later Andreas Valdix (32nd) scored to 3: 4. The hammer’s morale was finally over when the Bulls succeeded in the 42nd minute the 5: 3 through Sergei Stas and in the 47th minute the 6: 3 through Lukas Valasek. Annoying for the winner that Leon Fern received a disciplinary penalty two minutes before the end.
Herner EV – Rostock Piranhas 2: 5 (0: 0, 1: 1, 1: 4)
Slowly, however, the Rostockers are developing into the hateful object of betting offices. Whenever a defeat appears clear and logical in advance, they show their claws and get surprising points. This is what happened last night in Herne, where they had their nerves under control, played perfectly defensively and set their counterattacks perfectly in the last third. Apparently it was an offensive spectacle, because a total of 92 shots on goal (61:31 for Herne) were reportedly fired. A number that seems a bit high. However, even if it was a quarter less, the Hernians were superior, but could not implement this advantage. After a goalless first third, the Piranhas even took the lead thanks to Tom Pauker (35th). Nils Liesegang equalized nine seconds before the end of the third. Anyone who now guessed that the Rostock would collapse was wrong. They played down their boots in a disciplined manner, let the Herner run up and when they didn’t pay attention in the 54th minute, Sean Morgan managed to make it 2: 1 outnumbered. Only nine seconds later, Constantin Koopmann, whose return was good for the Rostockers, increased to 3-1 with his fifth goal of the season in the 19th game and Matthew Pistilli made it 4-1 just a minute later against Herner, who was confused. Despite the clear deficit, the Herner keeper Björn Linda took off the ice, were actually able to reduce it to 2: 4 in the 57th minute by Michel Ackers, but how strong the Rostockers acted was shown again in the 59th minute. Although Morgan was in the penalty box, Tom Pauker managed a shorthander to make it 5-2.
EG Diez-Limburg – Krefelder EV U23 1: 2 (1: 1, 0: 0, 0: 1)
That was not the Diez-Limburg game. Against unpleasant Krefeld there was a surprising home defeat, so that the fight in tenth place was reinforced again. The EGDL can lean back more in their armchairs, because with a deficit of 0.33 points on the Indians and 0.22 points ahead of the trio, which is fighting for tenth place, you are pretty much ninth in the table. In the game, the Krefeld team quickly took the lead. Maciej Rutkowski, who was also reported for the first team, made the 1-0 lead in the second minute of the game with his 31st scorer point, but it was only defended for six minutes. Already in the eighth minute, the Bad Nauheim loan from Leon Köhler equalized for the EGDL. In the nickely game carried out by a total of 26 time penalties plus a disciplinary penalty (Zajic; EGDL), the intermediate result remained until the 48th minute. Then Maciej Rutkowski met again after a pass from Mahkovec and because Krefeld’s goalkeeper Nils Kapteinat could not be overcome, it remained 2-1 for KEV.
Failed: Tilburg Trappers – Hannover Indians, Hannover Scorpions – Crocodiles Hamburg.
