Three suspects indicted for assassination in Nîmes shooting, placed in pre-trial detention

They had been in custody since mid-week. The three suspects arrested in the wake of the shooting which left a person dead on Tuesday February 20 in Nîmes were indicted this Saturday evening for assassination by an organized gang, attempted murder of a minor under 15 years old and several other counts ( concealment, destruction, criminal association, carrying of weapons, etc.). All three were placed in pre-trial detention. They are aged 19, 21 and 25; according to the Marseille prosecutor’s office, one was known for acts linked to drug trafficking, the second for other offenses, and the third, finally, had a clean record.

This Tuesday evening, February 20, gunshots broke out around 9:30 p.m. in the Chemin Bas district of Avignon, a notorious deal point in the city of Nîmes. A Gardois man in his forties from Castillon-du-Gard known for drug offenses who was stationed there had died there. On his vehicle, investigators found at least three bullet holes whose caliber corresponded to a Kalashnikov-type rifle. In the back seat, the 8-year-old son had miraculously escaped.

A few hours later, three men were arrested in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille as part of the investigations, a Kalashnikov was discovered in their car. A second vehicle which would have been used by the commando, was also found burned in Rodilhan, in Gard.
