MEXICO CITY.
The Federal Ministry of Health reported that there are currently three suspected cases of the new coronavirus strain in Mexico and reiterated that there are currently no confirmed cases in our country.
According to the technical report of nine o’clock on Tuesday night, the agency explained that one of the cases is in Mexico City, and is a male patient, who is admitted to the General Hospital, in stable condition
The other two suspicious cases also occurred in men, who are located in Nuevo León and Jalisco. Both are outpatient cases with mild symptoms.
The age of the patients ranges between 27 and 45 years and none presents comorbidities or risk factors.
The Ministry of Health reiterated that the search for suspicious cases is carried out by the National Epidemiological Surveillance System (SINAVE) through the following operational definition:
“Person of any age who has acute respiratory illness and who has a history of travel or stay in China or has been in contact with a confirmed case or under investigation up to 14 days before the onset of symptoms.”
In addition, the federal agency reiterated that Mexico has the “Medical Care Guidelines” applicable in general and family medical practice, general hospitals and high specialty hospitals, in urban and rural settings.
These guidelines provide each health unit in the country, public or private, with the standardized frame of reference, to provide medical care to suspected or confirmed cases of illness COVID-2019.
They also guide the programming of the acquisition of the necessary health supplies in possible scenarios of propagation and epidemic intensity.
