Three structures in total loss after several propane tanks explode – Telemundo Utah

A structural fire broke out Tuesday morning in Washington County, specifically at 6125 N Old Beatty Ranch Road, Pintura, after several propane tanks exploded.

According to Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on scene to confirm there was a fire and that everyone had safely exited the home.

Once the first fire units arrived on scene, it was determined that there was no reliable water source nearby, so the Hurricane Valley Fire Department and a tender from the New Harmony Valley Fire Department worked together to transport water from the nearest available source.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, however, it is believed to have started inside the home and spread to two different sheds. All three structures are a total loss.

There were numerous 20-gallon propane tanks on the property, near the structures that exploded. There was also a 400-gallon propane tank farther from the home that was vented, but did not explode.

The structure fire also caused a small brush fire, estimated at less than a quarter of an acre in size.

An occupant of the house was injured with minor injuries and was treated by paramedics on the scene and refused to be transported to the hospital. There were no injuries among any of the firefighters.

A total of 28 firefighters responded to this incident. Agencies that responded to this incident include Hurricane Valley Fire District, New Harmony Valley Fire District, Washington City Fire Department, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
