three questions to Frédéric Plasseraud, marketing director of Siniat

A specialist in plastering, lining and insulation solutions, Siniat, like any other market, has suffered from sudden increases in the prices of raw materials. Its marketing director Frédéric Plasseraud details the challenges.

Plaster, framework, EPS: are all your products subject to an increase in raw materials?
Plaster is affected because the mining and recycling of gypsum has rising costs, but in much smaller proportions than the current increases in EPS and metal.
We use metal for frames and some accessories, and it is experiencing a double-digit increase, in a context of international shortage.

How do you deal with this increase?
We have no other option but to pass it back in part to our customers, because the material is the main part of the cost of the frames. All the players in the sector are affected. It is also essential for us not to run out of merchandise when the building sites and the activity are there and the renovation is pulling the market.

Are your customers already expressing concerns?
The sudden rise in the PES is too recent. For the time being, it is especially distribution that is expressing concerns, especially for large housing projects, where the stakes are very high and where prices are often calculated as accurately as possible. Regarding diffuse renovation projects, we have no feedback yet. We hope that this does not impact the dynamics of the energy renovation projects, which we are supporting in 2021 with the Siniat Renov ‘program.
