‘Three quarters of nurses against compulsory vaccines’

Nurses and carers do not want an obligation of the flu and corona vaccine for their profession. Research by the NU’91 union shows that more than three quarters are against this. About 35 percent of healthcare workers are considering getting a flu vaccine this fall.

If there is a corona vaccine, 33 percent of the 3700 respondents want this vaccination. The group that does want a vaccine indicates that this should be done on a voluntary basis. NU’91 has supported this for a long time and states that making it compulsory is contrary to Article 11 of the Constitution, which states: “Everyone has the right to inviolability of his body, subject to restrictions imposed by or pursuant to the law”. .

According to Stella Salden, chair of NU’91, the same should apply to healthcare professionals as to other Dutch people. “The emotions and guilt feelings of nurses and carers are now being capitalized on. In this way the moral pressure is increased and that is really not possible.”
