Three people have symptoms of severe carbon monoxide poisoning after a camping trip in Rogaland on the night of Thursday.
A total of ten people – both children and adults – have been transported to Stavanger University Hospital after spending the night in the same tent.
This is what operations manager in the South-West police district, Victor Fenne-Jensen, says to VG.
– Three of those involved have symptoms of severe carbon monoxide poisoning, he says, and adds that it is a question of three adults.
An ambulance, air ambulance, fire brigade and police were sent to the scene after the incident was reported at 03.18 on Thursday night.
– This concerns two or three families, both children, teenagers and adults. The oldest are in their 40s and the youngest around ten years old, the operations manager tells NTB and adds:
– There are very variable symptoms. Some of them had almost no symptoms, some were nauseous and had breathing problems.
At Stavanger University Hospital, among other things, samples will be taken to establish that it is coal poisoning, as the police suspect.
– There has been an active charcoal grill that has been in the middle of the tent, explains the operations manager.
On Thursday morning, the police wrote on Twitter that it is suspected that it is the charcoal grill that has emitted charcoal fumes in the tent.
Stavanger Aftenblad writes that according to what they know, the emergency department at Stavanger University Hospital (SUS) has sent out a message to health personnel and asked around 30 people to report to work until 04.00.
