Firefighters rescued three people from a house in Vlissingen in the night between Saturday and Sunday. They suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital for treatment. Eleven residents of surrounding houses were evacuated.
At around 3.40 am, the fire brigade received a report of a fire in a ground floor apartment on the Kasteelstraat in Vlissingen. As there were still people inside, several vehicles were immediately deployed.
The first teams of the fire brigade managed to get two people out of the house. The third resident was later released. The fire was under control by around 4am.
After the firefighters checked the nearby houses, all the evacuated neighbors were able to return. The cause of the fire is unknown.
