Three people killed in attack in Israel
Three people have been killed after an attack in the city of Elad in central Israel, reports AFP and quotes the police and health personnel on the spot.
The ambulance service Magen David Adom states that four people are injured, in addition to those killed. The condition is serious for two of the injured, writes NTB.
According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz Police received reports of two suspects arriving at an amphitheater in the city with axes and firearms and attacking civilians.
The newspaper writes that the incident is suspected to be a terrorist attack.
Police have not yet been able to confirm whether the victims were stabbed or shot and are investigating the circumstances, the Israeli newspaper writes.
The mayor of Elad has asked the residents to stay indoors and lock the doors.
Police have set up checkpoints and are searching for a vehicle that apparently ran away from the scene.
Reuters writes that the attack takes place at the same time as Israel celebrates its national day.
Elad is located about 25 kilometers from the capital Tel Aviv, and has almost 50,000 inhabitants.
