As is well known, Csaba Balogh, who ran in the colors of Momentum, won the mayoral election in 2019, but left the party in May last year, and resigned from the position of city manager in February this year. The local election committee announced the interim municipal election for May 14, 2023, when the voters of Göd will elect a new mayor and a new municipal representative in district number 5 to replace Judit Hlavács, who resigned in January.
Three people entered the ring for the vacant mayor’s seat: Zoltán Kammerer, three-time Olympic champion, proud of three world championships and seven European championships, honorary citizen of Göd and Győr, who is listed as an independent candidate on the website of the National Elections Office.
Also running as an independent is András Rataj, who in previous decades worked as a diplomat and as a communications specialist, managed the company that published the municipal newspaper Gödi Körkép, and was the head of the local Settlement Supply Organization.
The third mayoral candidate is Lajos László Szilágyi, who participated in Göd’s public life as a deputy mayor until Csaba Balogh’s resignation. From the middle of February 2023, he will manage the city as acting mayor.
Six candidates are running for the municipal representative mandate vacated by the resignation of Judit Hlavács in constituency number 5: Kálmán Gyöngyösi (independent), Zoltán Kammerer (independent), Zoltán Mihály Orosz (independent), Ádám Oroszki (Mi Hazánk), András Rataj (independent), Szegedi Sándor (Gödi Entrepreneurs Association).
