Three oil fields in the North Sea shut down due to strike – NRK Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

The background for the strike is that the members of the Leaders voted no to the mediation result in a referendum on Thursday last week.

Escalation has been announced on Wednesday.

– Then four more fields will be taken down, including the important gas field Aasta Hansteen. Then 13 percent of Norwegian gas production will be affected, says communications manager in Norwegian oil and gas Kolbjørn Andreassen to NRK.

When escalating, 117 members in the Heidrun, Aasta Hansteen and Kristin fields will go on strike. All of these fields will also have to close production, while Tyrihans will have to close as a result of Kristin closing, according to the industry organization.

– From tomorrow, when a total of seven fields go down, there will be daily lost income of 521 million kroner. More than half a billion kroner a day.

From 9 July, the Leaders have announced a further escalation of the strike, and the total number of members on strike could then be 382. This escalation involves 68 members working at Gullfaks A, 59 members at Gullfaks C and 64 members at Sleipner.

On the first day, the strike will lead to a total reduction in oil and gas production by the equivalent of 89,000 barrels of oil, union leader Audun Ingvartsen confirms to the news agency Reuters.
