Bayern run this town
Six of the starting XI were FC Bayern players: Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané, Leon Goretzka and Niklas Süle. Honestly, getting Hansi Flick in charge is going to not only be a boon for Germany, but for Bayern Munich as well.
Don’t get me wrong, Germany has a ton of incredibly talented players from other clubs in Marco Reus (Dortmund), Kai Havertz, Antonio Rüdiger, and Timo Werner (Chelsea FC), and Jonas Hoffmann & Florian Neuhaus (Borussia Mönchengladbach). But nothing will be the unity and skill of the FC Bayern players. This isn’t even including Jamal Musiala, who came on for another spot appearance the currently injured Space Interpreter, Thomas Müller.
I’m well aware many fans around the Bundesliga and the world ostracize Bayern Munich for their dominance, but Germany would not have won the World Cup in 2014 without Bayern, and they’re going to need that Bayern <—> Germany connection to be strong again for the next World Cup under Hansi Flick.
Oh Timo
I mean, let’s be honest. When Germany is healthy Timo Werner should not be starting. I’m sorry, but whatever Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea has done to Timo Werner has completely broken him. Timo Werner of RB Leipzig was a lethal and cruel player who would punish you will his elite speed and clinical punishing. Chelsea’s Werner is…well….let’s just say I don’t college students who seem to have a better acumen in front of goal currently than he does.
I mean, c’mon:
That’s a sitter anyone should make. Timo has to sit, and these three qualifiers show that. Don’t let his three goals in three games fool you, they are hardly representative of where he is and how low down the pecking order he should be.
Flicki-Flaka is real
I’ll be the first to say thank you to ex-National coach Joachim Löw. He brought me my love of The team when I was a college sophomore living in the Südbayern town of Passau in 2014 when they won the World Cup. That being said, it had been time for a change for a number of years as Germany became stagnant.
Well, oh boy, did they get this right. I was the one at Bavarian Football Works to break the Hansi Flick as the permanent manager news and when I wrote, I proclaimed that Hansi Flick would be the best thing to happen to FC Bayern since, well, a while. What I didn’t think about is he would be doing the exact same thing for The team. I’m aware our competition has been Liechtenstein, Armenia, and Iceland, but who cares? Germany is playing with a fire and anger that I haven’t seen since Germany’s heyday of 2014 with Bastian Schweinsteiger being the engine of Die Machine.
Hansi Flick has implemented his Flick-Flaka that took Bayern to Champions League success on Germany’s squad with near perfection, and this is where that Bayern connection will be vastly important.
Against Iceland, Goretzka and Kimmich controlled the tempo of the game. Gnabry and Sané found openings galore and were able to create chance after chance. Even with Kai Havertz and Timo Werner blowing wide open chances, we still won 4-0. Germany is back, baby. Put the world on notice, Hansi Flick means business and it shows.
