“Three nuts for Cinderella”: – “Cinderella” is dead

The actress Libuse Safrankova, known for her role as Cinderella in the film classic “Three Nuts for Cinderella”, is dead. She turned 68 years old. It reports the Czech news channel CT24.

The death is confirmed by her husband, Josef Abrhám.

Safrankova has struggled with illness for several years, and was too ill to travel to Norway when “Three Nuts for Cinderella” was to be celebrated with a new and improved version in 2015.

Many Norwegians have a close relationship with the Czech Christmas film from 1973, which is broadcast on NRK on the morning of Christmas Eve every year. In the film, Cinderella finally wins the prince’s heart, played by Czech Pavel Trávníček (70).

Libuse Safrankova was a very famous actor in her native Czech Republic. She had her clear international breakthrough with the lead role in “Three Nuts for Cinderella” in 1973. At that time she was only 20 years old.

More recently, she has played the role of Klára in the film “Kolya” from 1996. The following year, the film won an Oscar for the best foreign language film of the year.

Privately, she was married to Josef Abrhám (81). He is also an actor, and goes on to be among the best actors in the Czech Republic, both on film and television.
