“In connection with the increase in the incidence of acute respiratory diseases and influenza in the territory of Lovech, Pazardzhik and Gabrovo regions, an influenza epidemic has been declared, and temporary anti-epidemic measures are being introduced for the period from January 18 to 24. For the relevant period of declared influenza epidemic, the educational process is suspended in the regions of Lovech, Pazardzhik, Stara Zagora, Shumen and Burgas. The educational process will not be suspended in the Gabrovo district, and on Friday, January 20, a decision will be made on the possible suspension of classes from Monday, January 23, in view of the current epidemic situation in the district, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Health.
A flu epidemic has been announced in the Stara Zagora region
Thus, there are already six districts with a flu epidemic in our country. In Stara Zagora it is for the period January 17-23, in Shumen – January 13-18 and in Burgas – January 12-17.
Temporary anti-epidemic measures include suspension of scheduled consultations of pregnant women and children, suspension of preventive examinations, mandatory immunizations and re-immunizations in outpatient care. Visits to medical facilities are also temporarily suspended. The conduct of a daily filter in nurseries and kindergartens is strengthened, and sick people from the staff are not allowed to work. Hospitals should strictly comply with the requirements for establishing a medical standard for the prevention and control of nosocomial infections, including strengthening access control for outsiders, wearing protective face masks, disinfection.

The Ministry of Health reminds that it is recommended to observe non-pharmaceutical anti-epidemic measures such as wearing masks, frequent hand hygiene and maintaining physical distance – effective both to protect against COVID-19 and other airborne infections such as influenza and ORZ.
