The number of deaths to date rose to 623, the Ministry of Health and the Interior said in a press release. 87 people have been recovered since the previous day. As a result, the number of active patients fell from 1,201 to 1,190 cases in a daily comparison.
So far a total of 15,961 people have tested positive, 79 more than on Monday. The comparatively high increase was due to Vienna, where, according to the city’s crisis team, cases diagnosed in a private laboratory due to a data transmission problem were added to the statistics from previous days. 14,148 people in Austria are now considered healthy again.
Of the 1,190 people currently ill, 264 were in hospitals, 15 fewer than on the previous day. 59 of these were again looked after in intensive care units, a drop of nine compared to the previous day. In Vienna the number of hospitalizations dropped into the double-digit range to 97. There were no Covid 19 patients in hospital treatment in Burgenland, only one in Krnten and two in Vorarlberg. 329,314 tests were carried out by Tuesday morning (also at 9:30 a.m.).
