Three more convictions for Michigan governor’s plans | NOW

In the US state of Michigan, three men were convicted of plotting to kidnap Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2020. The kidnapping ultimately never happened.

By August, two other men had already been convicted of planning the kidnapping. They would have been the leaders of a conspiracy. According to prosecutors, this came out of anger over the crown restrictions Whitmer had introduced in Michigan.

The conspirators hoped that the kidnapping would spark a violent riot and spark a civil war.

The people on trial Wednesday (local time) were found guilty of violating the gun law, belonging to gangs and providing terrorist materials.

Two of them, a man (28) and his father-in-law (44) organized tactical training sessions for the group members on their land in a remote part of Michigan. The third inmate (23) is said to have made a code language and attack plan for the group and provided ammunition.

The three face up to 20 years in prison each. The judge will rule on the men’s sentences on December 15th.
