Tragedy Strikes: Three Missouri Men Found Dead in Backyard Following Kansas City Chiefs Celebration

In a shocking turn of events, the remains of three Missouri men have been discovered in a backyard, freezing to death after a celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory. Clayton McGeeney, 36, David Harrington, 37, and Ricky Johnson, 38, were found outside a home on NW 83rd Terrace in Kansas City. While law enforcement is ruling out foul play, the circumstances surrounding their deaths remain unclear.

The three friends had gathered at the home of their friend, Jordan Willis, to revel in the Kansas City Chiefs’ triumph over the Las Vegas Raiders. Little did they know that this night of jubilation would end in tragedy. Mr. Willis retired for the night, oblivious to the fact that his friends’ lives were slipping away just outside his doorstep.

It wasn’t until two days later, on January 9th, when police arrived at Mr. Willis’ residence that he learned about the fate of his friends. The bodies of Clayton McGeeney and David Harrington were discovered in the backyard, while Ricky Johnson was found on the back porch. The news stunned Mr. Willis, who had no knowledge of their deaths or how they came to be there.

According to John Picerno, an attorney representing Mr. Willis, the cause of death is believed to be hypothermia, pending confirmation from the autopsy. The frigid temperatures that weekend, with temperatures plunging into the teens, likely played a significant role in their demise. However, it remains a mystery why their bodies went unnoticed for two days.

Mr. Picerno vehemently asserts Mr. Willis’ innocence, stating that he had no involvement in their deaths. He insists that Mr. Willis had no knowledge of when or how his friends left his house or that they were in desperate need of medical attention. Moreover, Mr. Willis was oblivious to the fact that loved ones had been trying to locate the missing trio.

The attorney explains that Mr. Willis didn’t notice the cars of his friends parked on his street as they were not in his driveway. Sleeping with earbuds and a loud fan, he was unaware when two people, including the wife of one of the deceased, came to his house. The wife attempted to reach him through Facebook Messenger, but unfortunately, he did not see the message until after the police contacted him.

The Kansas City Police Department is currently investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the incident. Captain Jake Becchina has assured the public that Mr. Willis has been cooperative throughout the investigation. He emphasizes that the case is not being treated as a homicide, with no arrests, charges, or concerns for the community’s safety at this time.

As the investigation unfolds, friends and family of Clayton McGeeney, David Harrington, and Ricky Johnson mourn their untimely deaths. The tragic outcome has left a community in shock and searching for answers. How did these men succumb to the freezing temperatures, and why were their bodies left undiscovered for two days? Only time and further investigation will reveal the truth behind this heartbreaking incident.
