It is almost 2 a.m. on June 17, 2021, the Covid-19 crisis is still present with its share of restrictions and a curfew from 11 p.m. Police officers patrol the Grand-Parc, in Bordeaux, and flinch when they see a small black car turning in the neighborhood. The officers’ attention was redoubled when they saw a boy with a swollen and bleeding face in the vehicle. They decide to check it, but the driver speeds up. The chase ends on the Place de l’Europe, the Ford Fiesta crashing into blocks.
Of the four occupants, two managed to escape, a third was caught and the last did not move from the rear seat. The young man in his twenties is in a bad state. Dressed in boxers, he has traces of blows and cigarette burns on his body, his fingers are injured by what could be pliers. Taken urgently to hospital, he was given temporary total incapacity for work for 15 days. And explains having been kidnapped and beaten, for several hours, by the trio.
Drug trafficking
Two and a half years later, three 26-year-old men have been on trial since Monday, January 22, before the Gironde Assize Court. Accused of kidnapping accompanied by acts of torture, they risk life imprisonment. Two appear detained, Nasim Djellouli and Illyes Merzougui. After a year in pre-trial detention, the last one is judged free.

In front of them, the civil parties’ bench is empty, the victim absent. The court hopes to hear it on Tuesday January 23, but nothing is certain. Known to the courts, recently released from prison, the young man has not given any news.
This case would have originated from a “coring” of 28,000 euros intended for drug trafficking, revealed the judicial information. Recruited by a mysterious sponsor, Nasim Djellouli allegedly asked the victim to help him transport the money to Spain. Djellouli must have been in the opening car, the young man in the carrying car. But the latter allegedly set up a scam, with accomplices, making it appear that he had been attacked and that his car and money had been stolen. Nasim Djellouli would have sensed the lie and arranged to meet the victim at a rest area in Cestas, the starting point of the sinister journey of the evening of June 16 to 17, 2021.
“Do like the grown-ups”
On the first day of their trial, the three accused were not questioned about the facts, the court first examining their personalities. A question quickly arises: how could these frightened-looking boys, described as “nice”, “reserved” and also “influenceable” by those close to them, find themselves involved in such an affair?
Everyone knows each other from Grand-Parc, where they grew up. All come from integrated families, “united and structuring on an educational level”, indicates a personality investigator. At the time of the events, they were living with their parents. Idle sometimes, employed in small jobs from time to time, due to lack of diploma.
“I’m discreet, introverted, not the type to make a fuss,” murmurs Nasim Djellouli, who swings from one leg to the other, “stressed.” “At the time, I smoked and I dealt,” explains his friend who appears free. I lived in a neighborhood, I wanted to be like the adults. It didn’t get me anywhere. That towards problems. »
The trial lasts until Thursday January 25.
