The British prosecutor’s office authorized “proceedings against three people,” the girl’s father Urfan Sharif, 41, his partner Beinash Batool, 29, and her brother, Faisal Malik, 28, local police announced in a statement. .
“They are also accused of causing or permitting the death of a child,” added Surrey (south) police.
The defendants fled and took refuge with relatives in Pakistan the day before Sara Sharif’s body was discovered, triggering an international search that ended on Wednesday, when they were detained after getting off a plane at London’s Gatwick airport.
The body was found in the family home, in a town near Woking (south) after a call from the father from Pakistan.
The autopsy revealed that Sara had suffered “numerous injuries” over a long period.
In a video released last week, the girl’s stepmother claimed that the little girl’s death had been an “accident” and explained that the family was “finally willing to cooperate with the British authorities and testify in court.”
