Three Marseillais suspected of having defrauded Vaucluse winegrowers

Three men from Marseille are suspected of having scammed around twenty people in Vaucluse, mainly professionals from the wine sector. The defendants were arrested in the Bouches-du-Rhône, Allauch and Plan-de-Cuques. After several custody, they will be soon summoned before the Carpentras court.

False identity and usurped bank details

In this case, a first complaint for fraud from a wine company is filed at the gendarmerie of Châteauneuf-du-Pape last September. Then the scenario repeats itself. Very quickly, the military received other complaints for similar facts.

The investigation is being carried out jointly with the municipality’s brigade and the Orange research brigade. Investigators identify exactly 19 victims. The three suspected crooks are accused of using a false identity and spoofed bank details to place orders on the internet between June 2020 and last October.

The total loss amounts to 74,000 euros.
