Three large trees end up on the villa in Oostduinkerke (Koksijde)

Koksijde –

Storm Odette has wreaked havoc in the garden of a holiday villa in Dahlialaan in Oostduinkerke. As many as three tree giants died at the same time and ended up on the roof of the house.

The fire brigade was summoned to the street just after noon on Saturday. Two trees were uprooted on the street side and dragged a brick garden wall in their fall.

That had a domino effect because the two trees then collided with two other large trees. Three of the trees then ended up on the roof of the villa. Another was killed in the front yard.

The havoc is great. The roof is covered with large branches and at least two trunks of trees remained on the roof. It was an impossible task for the Koksijde fire brigade to cut them all.

No danger

There was also no danger of casualties because nobody was present in the holiday villa. The owner lives in Durbuy and only occasionally comes to his villa, which was also often rented out. That is why the fire brigade left.

The owner called in a landscaping company to get all the trees off the roof and cut them. There is damage to the roof, gutters and windows, but the exact size cannot be determined until all trees have been removed. In any case, the roof held up fairly well.
