Three people were injured when a drone crashed during the festival Boston Celtics held at City Hall Plaza on Tuesday night.
Boston police confirmed that around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, a drone or parts of a drone used by a media organization injured three people. Ambulances were seen transporting patients to hospital and police said all three are expected to survive. They said no further information was available about the incident.
According to The Boston GlobeCNN’s drone operator told police they were filming the scene when the drone hit a light pole and fell. It is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery is CNN and TNT. The drone was found by the police.
TNT, which hosted Tuesday’s season opener between the Celtics and the New York Knicks, released a statement following the incident.
“Unfortunately, there was an incident involving a drone and fans at an event last night,” a spokesperson said. “Medical and security personnel on site immediately attended to the situation. We are currently investigating further and wish everyone involved the best of luck.”
