Three in four corona patients admitted to hospital between September 1 and October 3 were unvaccinated, according to figures from the RIVM. That number was even higher among corona patients in intensive care, namely four in five. The chance of ending up in the ICU as a fully vaccinated person is 33 times smaller than as a non-vaccinated person.
More than 80 percent of the population aged 12 years and older is currently vaccinated. RIVM reports that full corona vaccination still protects 95 percent against hospitalization and 97 percent against admission to the ICU.
Even among the elderly, who were the first to act in the government’s vaccination policy, it has not yet been established that a vaccination is less effective in preventing hospital admissions. the institute reported on Tuesday.

In earlier figures of the covid hospital admissions between April and the third week of August, RIVM still spoke of 88 percent of all admitted corona patients who had not been vaccinated. Now it’s 73 percent. According to RIVM, the fact that the percentage of unvaccinated in hospitals was higher at that time is mainly due to the fact that relatively few people had been vaccinated at the start of this period.
