Three friends, from Épernon, Nogent-le-Roi and Chartres dive into the adventure of the Amazon raid

“Either I dived or I got up after my mother’s aneurysm ruptured”, sums up Marlène de Almeida.

Marlène has decided to raise her head and set herself a challenge: that of participating, in November, in the Amazon raid (a humanitarian and physical event reserved for women taking place in Sri Lanka). She is accompanied in this adventure by two childhood friends from Chartres and Nogent-le-Roi, Clémence Bigot and Natacha Maxin.

The story begins a little less than a year ago, when Marlène de Almeida’s mother suffered a ruptured aneurysm. The sequelae are numerous including the loss of memory of the last five years and gestures of daily life to relearn.

“I experienced a kind of burnout following this, I wanted to live an experience that requires resilience, surpassing oneself and feeling useful. My choice fell on the Amazones raid, because we are all a bit sporty”, sums up Marlène de Almeida.
