“Three Frescoes Unveiled by La Pédiatrie Enchantée in Bel-Air, Thionville”

Who is the Enchanted Pediatrician

Reminder: Nora Céleski, founder and current president of La Pédiatrie Enchantée, created the association in June 2000. The latter, recognized as being of public utility, sets up activities that are part of government action in favor of development of cultural practices in the hospital. It develops cultural and artistic actions in the pediatric units of Lorraine, and mainly at the CHR Metz-Thionville. Currently, at the CHR Metz-Thionville, the association sets up weekly artistic workshops: at the Hôpital Femme-Mère-Enfants in Mercy and at the Bel-Air hospital in Thionville where a musical awakening workshop takes place in neonatology, a music workshop and a visual arts workshop.

What is the purpose of fresco projects?

It is dual. It is already a question of responding to the will of the care team to provide care in a universe close to the universe of the child to participate in his physical and moral well-being. Then to offer a quality welcome to children and their families by offering a pleasant living environment closer to their daily lives.

What do they represent?

At the Pediatric Emergency Department, “The Adventures of Bobo”, by Lise-Marie Moyen, has as its theme the adventures of a monkey on its journey through the jungle. The child can thus follow the little mascot and meet different colorful characters. The five care boxes plunge the child and his parents into other worlds: in a circus, a playground, in the air thanks to a hot air balloon, in space, but also in the seabed.

Within the neonatology unit, “The four seasons” by Mélissa Fries brings a feeling of calm and the possibility for parents to recharge their batteries with their child. A parallel with the beginning of life is made thanks to the representation of the four seasons: the calm of winter, the awakening of buds, the first plantings of the garden, the multitude of colors of the vegetable patch and fruit trees…

In pediatrics, “The Enchanted Forest” by Victoria Sirooka tells the story of the fairies of the woods which immerses the child and his parents in a colorful and dreamlike universe. The story begins in the wing dedicated to young patients, illustrating the child fairies, then continues to meet mischievous animals, to arrive in the teenagers’ corridor, representing the characters with more maturity.
