The incident, according to the Sibiu police, occurred after a 63-year-old from Gorj tried to overtake a van on the continuous line. He lost control of the steering wheel and crashed head-on into an oncoming car. The crash resulted in a total of three deaths.
“From the first investigations carried out by the policemen of the Sibiu Road Service, it emerged that, while driving a car from Veștem towards Brașov, at km. 293+500m, a 63-year-old man from Gorj county would be engaged in overtaking a van , violating the continuous longitudinal signs and entered the opposite direction where he lost control of the direction of travel and collided head-on with a car driven by Brașov, projecting him into another car following him”, announces IPJ Sibiu.
Unfortunately, the head-on impact claimed the lives of three people in the car driven by Brașov. They are the driver, aged 67, and two women aged 21 and 55 respectively, all of foreign nationality.
Also, as a result of the accident, the driver from Gorj county was seriously injured, as well as another passenger in the car in which the deceased were, a 15-year-old young woman, a foreign national.
Behind the wheel of the third car was a 20-year-old woman from Vâlcea County. There were no fatalities from this vehicle.
“In the case, at the level of the Sibiu Road Service, a criminal investigation file was opened relating to the commission of the crimes of manslaughter, respectively culpable personal injury, as a result of which, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office at the Sibiu Court, all the exact circumstances under which this traffic accident occurred,” informs IPJ Sibiu.
Update: Two people died and four others were injured as a result of the traffic accident that occurred on Sunday evening on DN1, in Hula Bradului, announced the spokesperson of the Emergency Situations Inspectorate (ISU) Sibiu, Andreea Ştefan, according to Agerpres.
