Three Explosions Rock Amsterdam Noord District, One Suspect Arrested

Three explosions took place in the Amsterdam Noord district in the night from Sunday to Monday. Police have arrested one suspect.

In the first incident, three residents had to flee their house through the back because of an incendiary bomb. The explosive was thrown against the front door of the house on Urkstraat around 3 a.m. Photos show that the explosion has punched a hole in the front door.

In the Beemsterstraat 2 kilometers away, heavy fireworks were thrown into several mailboxes of a porch house. That happened about twenty minutes after the first incident. Police say there was significant damage but no injuries.

A third explosion took place a few hundred meters from the Beemsterstraat on the Werengouw. Around 3:50 a.m., fireworks went off at the porch of a house. There were no injuries. The porch was damaged.

The police arrested a 21-year-old suspect from Amsterdam near Beemsterstraat. The police do not yet know whether the three incidents are related and are investigating the circumstances of the incidents.
