Skaters from the Les Cyclones de Rimouski speed skating club took part in three events the weekend of October 19 and 20. Cloé Caty won a medal.
Ten skaters from the Rimouski club were in action in Saint-Hyacinthe for the first stage of the interregional circuit. Cloé Caty distinguished herself by winning bronze in the women’s group 2. In her first competition on this circuit, Rosalie St-Hilaire took 10th place in the same group. In group 1, Élodie Luissier Pellerin finished in 10th position followed by Elsa Lebel in 14th place.
Among the boys, Eliot Lebel finished in 5th position in group 1. In group 2, William Landry took 10th place and Jules Vignola took 4th position in group 3. All competing for the first time at the interregionals, Pier -Alexis Carvalho, Gabriel Therrien and Charles-Olivier Berger took 7th, 10th and 14th place respectively in group 4.
College-university circuit
The first installment of the college-university competition circuit took place in Sherbrooke. This circuit welcomes skaters aged 16 and over, progressing from recreational masters to the national team. Three Cyclones skaters took part in this competition, the general classification of which is mixed and does not take into account competition groups. Félix Gagnon finished in 46th place, while improving his ranking time in the 500m. Zachary Tremblay took 66th position and Mégane Barriault concluded her day in 78th place.
Canadian Long Track Championships
Simultaneously with these competitions, the Canadian Long Track Speed Skating Championships were held in Quebec. The event brought together the best skaters in the country with the aim of establishing representatives on the world cups for the first part of the season. Camille Tremblay, who trains with Team Quebec, was in her third participation in these championships. She finished in 15th position overall in the 1500m and took 12th and 14th in the two 1000m races on the program, taking 2nd among junior skaters in one of the two events. The Rimouskoise also obtained 2nd junior rank in the 3000 m, for which she finished in 11th position in the general classification, and in the two 500 m events. Camille Tremblay ranked 7th overall for one of the 500m and 9th for the second, lowering her personal mark. She finished in the top 3 of the junior category in each event.
