“Three Dead and One Seriously Injured in Serious Traffic Collision in Stange”

Three people died after a serious traffic accident in Stange. The collision was between a truck and a car.

A fourth person was seriously injured and was flown to Ullevål hospital by air ambulance.

– There are a total of five people involved, said Frode Øvreås, operations manager in the Innlandet police district, who described the accident as serious.

The driver of the lorry appears unharmed, and is being cared for by the healthcare system, the police said on Twitter.

The vehicles involved are registered abroad, the police say.

THREE DEAD: Traffic is closed at the scene. It will take a long time before the road is opened, the police report.

Characterizes the local community

The mayor of Stange, Bjarne H. Christiansen (Ap), tells NTB that the accident affects the local environment. Christiansen tells NTB that the municipality has been in close contact with the police ever since the accident was reported.

– The first thing people ask themselves is whether any locals are affected, he says.

The road in question is heavily trafficked, including by long-haul transport, but according to the mayor, the place where the accident happened is not particularly prone to accidents.

Do on-site research

At around 2.45 pm, the emergency services arrived at the scene.

Anne Hårstad, traffic operator at Vegtrafikksentralen East, said at around 3.15pm that the National Road Administration’s accident team is on its way.

– It’s a serious accident, so it’s closed and will be closed for several hours to come, Hårstad said about the traffic at the scene.

Both the police, the National Road Administration’s accident team and the National Accident Investigation Board are still at the scene on Thursday evening.
