Three Czechs in the top ten! The biathletes shone at the World Cup

Biathletes Jonáš Mareček and Mikuláš Karlík took fifth and sixth place in the 15-kilometer endurance race at the Junior World Championships in Obertilliach. Marečka, who started among the teenagers last year, was 13.9 seconds away from bronze in the opening start of the championship. Karlík, who also tasted the World Championships among adults this year, lost another two tenths.

Vítězslav Hornig closed the elite ten. The fourth Czech, Tomáš Mikyska, who, like his national team colleagues, was already gaining experience among the elite in the World Cup, took 20th place. The gold was won by the German Philipp Lipowitz.

Among the juniors, Tereza Voborníková was the best Czech in the 12.5 km race in 27th place. Tereza Jandová took 43rd place, Klára Poledníková 55th and Eliška Teplá 85th place. The Frenchwoman Camille Benedová celebrated her sovereign victory.

The 15th Jakub Kudrnáč and the 30th Kateřina Pavlů took care of the best Czech results in Saturday’s endurance races for teenagers.
