The reasons for burning

After the incident, the National Secretariat of Defense (SEDENA) issued an official statement in which they acknowledged the events that took place on the Villa Comaltitlán-Huixtla highway.

According to this information, there was a group of soldiers at a checkpoint that was set up for security reasons due to the presence of drug traffickers in the area. They noticed a speeding pick-up truck and tried to clear them when he realized that the soldiers were present, which put them on the defensive. Behind this vehicle were two pickup trucks with trucks, the type usually used by criminal gangs in the area, leaving the military worried.

SEDENA asserted that one of these soldiers heard a loud noise and mistakenly assumed it was an explosion of bullets, so he opened fire and forced another of the soldiers to follow .

One of the vans stopped, and as they approached, they realized they were undocumented migrants, so they called the emergency services. SEDENA points out that the two soldiers who opened fire on the foreigners have already been removed from their positions, while the investigation is ongoing.
