Three Chinese warships call at the Port of Owendo – AGP

Chinese sailors on a stopover in Gabon, greeted here by the Chinese ambassador and Gabonese army officials.

Libreville, July 08, 2023 (AGP) – Three ships of the Navy of the People’s Republic of China, visiting the Gulf of Guinea, marked a stopover this Saturday morning at the Port of Owendo.

The Gabonese naval force organized a grand welcome ceremony on the wharf of the Port of Owendo, to celebrate this event. More than fifty people, including the Chinese ambassador to Gabon, Li Jinjin and officials of the Gabonese army, in particular the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces in charge of personnel, Brigadier General Adolphe Yonghan, the Chief of Staff of the National Navy, Rear Admiral Charles-Hubert Bekale Meyong, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, Lieutenant General Dieudonné Pongui and representatives of Chinese overseas , welcomed the arrival of this fleet, when Destroyer NANNING successfully docked in Owendo Harbor at 8:40 a.m. local time.

Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy Flotilla ETG 162 (the 43rd Gulf of Aden Escort Flotilla) consists of 3 warships (DDG 162 Destroyer, FFG 574 Frigate, AOE 887 Supply Ship) .

About 750 sailors who make up the crew of these three vessels of the Chinese Navy, will continue their tour in Pointe-Noire in Congo for the next stage of their stopover.
