Three Breton Companies Among the Top 10 Most Visited Companies in France

Three Breton companies, Finistère moreover, appear in the Top 10 of the most visited companies in France, a list recently published by the national observatory of the association Entreprise et Découverte. In this 2023 vintage, Brittany is the most popular region with three winning companies: the Biscuiterie de la Point du Raz (Plogoff – 29), in 7th position with 166,650 visitors per year, the Conserverie Courtin (Trégunc – 29) in 8th position with 153,300 visitors and the Biscuiterie de Pont-Aven (29) with 138,420 visitors.

With 38% of cumulative visits, agri-food is still at the top of the most committed companies. Two sectors are progressing compared to the 2020 observatory: “Wine, beer and spirits” and “Fashion and cosmetics””, reports the observatory, which lists a total of 3,500 companies in France open to visits, an increase of 75% in three years. “France affirms and strengthens its position as a leader in company visits, a real French economic and cultural exception.”

Family and heritage businesses are the most visited

Several common points and arguments for visits bring together the companies involved: the often family history and the territorial anchoring of companies are the reasons for their opening to the public. “The share of companies over 50 years old is constantly increasing”emphasizes the national observatory, which points to 48% of the number of committed companies that are over 50 years old and 28% to those that have exceeded a century of existence.

To attract, retain and interest the public, more and more companies (40%) have a company museum in addition to their visit offer. The majority (85%) have a shop at the end of the visit, boosting the price of the average basket by 30%, according to the association Entreprise et Découverte. The Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) Label is also a guarantee of public interest and confidence, which acclaims the companies recognized by this distinction.

Other benefit described: know-how tourism is local tourism since it attracts and mainly concerns visitors to the region. “Nearly 50% of companies receive visitors on the seasonal wings, thus contributing to the deconcentration of flows over the summer period”, emphasizes the National Observatory, thus confirming the leverage of increased attractiveness through this activity.
