After a rigorous evaluation, three (3) bidders prequalified for the final stage, presenting technical and economic proposals, of the international competition that will allow the construction, operation and maintenance of a Wastewater Treatment Plant – WWTP in Puerto Maldonado, Madre de Dios. , reported the Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN).
These are two (2) consortiums and a company with global operations that were prequalified after presenting the documents required in the bases (envelope No. 1), to demonstrate compliance with technical experience in construction and operation of wastewater treatment plants. and financial solvency.
Those prequalified are Intercontinental Technology, SAPI de CV; as well as the Saneamiento Puerto Maldonado consortia (BTD Capital 12, SL and Calare Investments, SL) and Copasa-Almar (Sociedad Anónima de Obras y Servicios, COPASA, Sucursal del Perú and Almar Water Servicios España, SL).
The award of the project would be scheduled for the second quarter of 2024 and includes the construction, rehabilitation, expansion, operation and maintenance of the collection, treatment and final disposal systems of municipal wastewater in Puerto Maldonado.
The estimated investment amounts to S/ 365 million without VAT (about US$ 97.7 million) and the concession term will be 23 years through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) co-financed by the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) in quality of grantor.
The project will contribute to closing gaps in drinking water and sewage, provide an efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment and disposal service, promote the decontamination of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers and impact the health and quality of life of 120 thousand residents.
To this end, the MVCS plans to execute complementary projects such as the expansion of drinking water and sewage coverage through the Large Cities program and to execute storm drainage works through the public works modality.
