A woman in Vienna-Döbling experienced a truly horror night on Wednesday. According to Vienna police reports, three masked men broke into her house in the 19th district. According to the victim, one of the burglars threatened her with a handgun during the home invasion. The three unknown men demanded that the homeowner hand over valuables.
They then tied up the woman and fled the scene in the victim’s car. The victim managed to free herself from the handcuffs after about 45 minutes and informed a neighbor. She immediately alerted the police. An immediate search for the suspected perpetrators and the victim’s car was unsuccessful. The woman was unharmed – at least physically – during the robbery.
How the suspects entered the house is still the subject of investigations, a police spokesman told APA. Jewelry and cash were stolen during the robbery. The amount of damage has yet to be determined, the police stressed. The police also remained tight-lipped on Wednesday about the background, the crime scene and details of the robbery for reasons of victim protection. The Vienna State Office of Criminal Investigation has taken over the investigation.
