Three Americans have been arrested in Florida on suspicion of involvement in the storming of the Capitol. Today marks three years since the Capitol was stormed by supporters of President Donald Trump.
The three knew they were wanted by the police. They are suspected of, among other things, violently entering the Capitol and attacking Capitol security guards.
Reward
It concerns a 24-year-old man, his 33-year-old sister and a 27-year-old man. The FBI had offered a $30,000 reward for tips on the whereabouts of the 24-year-old man. According to the FBI, he may have been armed and dangerous.
The 24-year-old man hid after the storming of the Capitol and has only now been found. The other two were arrested in 2021, but fled when released on bail.
Arrested
More than 1,200 people have been arrested since the storming. More than 700 of them have pleaded guilty to various charges, while 139 others were convicted without pleading guilty, reports justice. As far as we know, the highest sentence imposed to date is 22 years.
Trump also has yet to appear in court because of the storm, in a case surrounding the investigation of special prosecutor Jack Smith. The trial is scheduled for early March, in the middle of the campaign period, and revolves around subverting the election results.
