The high hospital occupancy rate, said Dr. Iing, finally led the government to issue a policy so that hospitals could increase their bed capacity to 40 percent, both isolation and ICU beds.

Drg Iing further explained that to increase bed capacity, each hospital needs space, zoning arrangements, and the most important is human resources, namely special medical personnel.

“But also patients with other diseases. This means that the hospital also has to divide its zoning. Adding a bed, you have to determine the zoning as well, the flow from the ER to the inpatient until the patient goes home. It must be separated so that the general public feels safe when they have to go to the hospital. , “said Drg Iing.

However, Drg Iing revealed that not all hospitals have the same ability to increase bed capacity for special Covid-19 patients.

This is because each hospital has a different structure and space zoning. It takes time to turn an ordinary bed into a special insulating bed.

Drg Iing revealed that out of 130 private hospitals in Jakarta, nearly 60 of them treat Covid-19 patients.

In fact, in January, the BOR at the hospital in Jakarta reached an occupancy rate of up to 85 percent.

“However, yesterday it started to decrease. (BOR) ICU to 70 percent and isolation to 60 percent. This may be the impact of additional beds,” he explained.
