Threatened to lose in Ukraine, Putin plans to flee Russia?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly preparing an emergency evacuation plan from Russia. These preparations were made for the possibility of Ukraine winning in the ongoing war.

This information was disclosed via the General SVR Telegram channel, which is said to be run by Kremlin insiders.

“Putin himself and his entourage are preparing plans for evacuation from Russia,” the information said ExpressMonday (1/8/2022).

The alleged evacuation plan means Putin and his family are taken out of Russia and into Syria, the country’s closest friend. They will fly through the airspace of Turkey, a member of the NATO alliance.

But if Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan denied Putin’s flights access to the airspace, this would effectively thwart the entire evacuation.

Meanwhile, Iran is reported to be another country that may be interested in Putin’s fate. It said Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Erdogan allegedly discussed what they would do if Putin needed asylum.

“In principle, it is beneficial for Iran and Turkey to keep the Russian president in exile in reserve, using him, depending on the situation, as leverage or as a bargaining chip,” the information said.

During the fighting with Ukraine, Russia has reportedly lost thousands of military vehicles in its war against Ukraine, according to new figures.

A little more than six months after Russian troops marched on the Ukrainian border, reports indicate 5,000 of their “vehicles and other heavy equipment” have gone missing.

Dutch intelligence defense analysis website Oryx puts the total number at 5,010. It added that 3,193 of them have been destroyed, 103 damaged, 323 abandoned and 1,391 captured.
