Chtellerault: class threatens in the Ferry and Lagrange schools, the parents mobilized

In Chtellerault, four schools could lose a class at the start of the 2022 school year. On Wednesday June 8, 2022, a mobilization of parents of students took place in two of them, Jules-Ferry (Fauvette) and Lo-Lagrange (Renardires).

In Vienna, the departmental special technical committee for national education meets Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the rectorate of Poitiers to define the school map 2022applicable the beginning of September.

At the end of the preparatory meeting on Thursday June 2, the SNUipp 86 union communicated on its website the list of the 22 schools in the department which could lose a class (“closing vigilance”) and of the nine which could gain one (“opening vigilance”).

In Chtellerault, the threat of closing a class hangs over four establishments according to the teachers’ union: the nursery school of Antoign; the Jules-Ferry elementary school in the Fauvette district; the Lo-Lagrange primary school, in Renardires; Jacques-Prvert primary school, at Lac.

The day after a protest rally of parents at the school of Antoigntwo new mobilizations were organized on Wednesday June 8, one Jules-Ferry, the other Lo-Lagrange.

cole Lo-Lagrange

A l’Lo-Lagrange primary schoolin the Renardires district in the south of the city, one of the seven classes is threat, according to a group of parents. The proposed deletion would concern the maternal part.

“It is planned, on this day, 120 registered back to school, as much as today”, comment the parents this Wednesday morning in front of the school. class forecasts for 25 students in small and medium sections and in CE2-CM. In the Rep+ zone (reinforced priority education network), when you know the problems of the Renardires, that’s a lot. And registrations during the year are not taken into account, regular in a neighborhood like ours which is home to a number of traveling families, for example. It is not uncommon here to have about fifteen registrations during the year. The risk is no longer able to accommodate children aged two and a half. However, in the priority education zone, we know the whole issue of the education of the youngest.

The collective says it was informed “this Tuesday only”, “”only 48 hours” of a decision “which seems to have already been approved”. no consultation ! At the very least, we would like explanations!”, he laments, still wanting to believe another possible outcome.

cole Jules-Ferry

At the Jules-Ferry elementary school, in the Fauvette district, one of the seven classes is threatin CM, says a group of parents.

Still according to this, the establishment has registered 142 registrants for the start of the 2022 school year, compared to 161 today. That is a forecast drop of 19 students.

“Closing a class will force teachers to round up children who have behavior problems”, denounce the parents this Wednesday morning in front of the school. Situations will be explosive and teaching conditions will deteriorate further. Many children have real school difficulties. Closing a class would be catastrophic for them.”

Like Lo-Lagrange, the collective denounces a lack of consultation and a minimum of information: “We learn that 48 hours before and we have not no lement on the ins and outs of this decision.”

A delegation of parents from Jules-Ferry must be received at the Rectorate on Thursday June 9 at 1:30 p.m., just before the meeting of the special departmental technical committee for national education.

At the Jules-Ferry school, parents are mobilizing against the plan to close a class.
